The Ulladulla and districts Garden Club offers a range of popular and enjoyable activities. The details of forthcoming activities are available at meetings and in the monthly newsletter. At present activities are limited due to ongoing Covid restrictions.
Coffee Mornings held at members’ gardens or other garden venues (commencing at 10am). Members are asked to bring a chair, a mug for tea/coffee and a small plate of goodies to share.
Plant Propoagation Group meets monthly at members’ homes to learn propogation skills and extend experience by propagating plants for their own gardens as well as for the Club’s Trading table. Every few months members organise a workshop with a local expert to learn about propogating using specific methods for groups of plants such as ferns, succulents, orchids, etc.
Monthly Wildflower Walks: Guided walks through are held on the first day of each month at 10am through the Wildflower Reserve, Warden Street Ulladulla. The walks are led by two Garden Club Members who are Land Managers of the Wildflower Reserve.
Coach trips are planned regularly both for one day or overnight to locations of interest to members including gardens, nurseries, exhibitions, etc. In recent years trips the Club has organised trips to NSW Coast and inland, Central West and the Blue Mountains, rural Victoria and Tasmania.
Luncheons or Morning Teas are held to celebrate the Club’s Birthday in June and Christmas in December.
Special Functions
Community Projects
Ulladulla and districts Garden Club undertakes a number of community projects that promote an appreciation of gardening and gardens and their importance and value to local communities. Currently the Club supports a selected horticulture student at Ulladulla High School to complete his secondary education and funds the contract for the maintenance of the gardens at the Jindelara respite care facility in Ulladulla. Members are encouraged to suggest new community projects that the Club may undertake.
Zone Friendship Day
Ulladulla and Districts Garden Club is affiliated with The Garden Clubs of Australia Inc. which has a membership of over 750 autonomous garden clubs and societies throughout Australia. These clubs are divided into 54 zones. Ulladulla and Districts Garden Club is in the South Coast NSW Zone.
Every 2 years clubs within each zone meet for a Friendship Day. Unfortunately, Zone Friendship days have been suspended due to the ongoing Covid restrictions. The future of Zone Friendship Days is uncertain.
Fundraising Events
The Garden Club undertakes fund raising events each year. These events may be a Plant Sale or a social event with raffles and market stalls and other activities. Funds raised support nominated Ulladulla and Districts Garden Club community projects.
